About the Journal

The Electronic Journal of Research in Science Education is an electronic publication of the Nucleus of Research in Science and Technology Education of the Faculty of Exact Sciences of Unicen.

The main objective of this journal is to disseminate educational research in Science and Mathematics, assuming a didactic, cognitive and epistemological perspective -jointly or emphasizing some of them-. The Electronic Journal of Research in Science Education publishes articles in Spanish, Portuguese, English and French.

The Electronic Journal of Research in Science Education publishes exclusively unpublished and refereed research articles related to the study of the teaching-learning processes and the conditions for their realization in different fields of scientific knowledge -didactic and epistemological perspective - as well as the genesis and construction of knowledge -cognitive perspective- from diverse theoretical and methodological frameworks.

In addition, the journal seeks to be a meeting place between professionals in science education, fostering communication between authors and readers.

The Electronic Journal of Research in Science Education does not publish articles exclusively based on questionnaires or strictly framed in a behaviourist paradigm.

The Electronic Journal of Research in Science Education will not publish more than one article with the same authorship and/or co-authorship in an interval of less than twenty-four months.

The Electronic Journal of Research in Science Education ratifies the Open Access model in which the contents of scientific publications are available in full text free of charge on the Internet, without temporary embargoes, and whose editorial production costs are not transferred to the authors. This policy aims to break the economic barriers that generate inequities both in access to information and in the publication of research results.

Two annual issues are published: July 15 and December 15 of each year.

Peer review process

The works submitted to publication will be analyzed in a first phase, by the Editorial Team that will make a general review of the work, being able to reject directly, without going to external evaluation, works whose quality is manifestly low or which do not fit the thematic areas of the journal. For this first revision, the Editorial Team may require the assistance of the members of the Editorial Advisory Board.

In a second phase, the external evaluation will be carried out by two academic peers using the double-blind system (peer review). The reviewers will issue their opinion according to the criteria established by the editorial committee. In case the reviewers suggest changes and/or corrections, the article is returned to the author or authors.  If there is disagreement on the recommendation for publication of the article, the document will be sent to a third evaluator.

The reviewers never have the institutional affiliation of the author. In addition, we guarantee the suitability of the evaluators with respect to the subject matter of the proposed articles.

Once the reports of the reviewers have been issued, the Editorial Team may take one of the following decisions, which will be communicated to the authors:

  • Publish as is
  • Publish with Minor Modifications
  • Publish with Montage Modifications
  • Make changes indicated and re-refer
  • Reject
